Edition:

The painting is on an oak panel which consists of two planks, joined horizontally; the panel is stamped with the Antwerp panel-makers mark on the reverse. The panel is very slightly warped at the upper and lower edge. The painted surface seems to be in good condition, some minor thinness of the paint layer can be observed throughout. Traces of the underpainting can be seen in the upper right part of the sky and clouds and in the landscape. A surface scratch of circa 4 cm can be seen in the lower right. Various discoloured retouchings can be seen in the trees. When inspected under ultraviolet light, the varnish layer fluoresces largely, revealing some strengthenings in the sky, in the left in the trees along the join, in the figures and along the lower edge. Frame: Walnut veneer brown wooden frame.
